Just
over two months ago, the BSI’s had high hopes of winning The Mill’s
Battle Of The Bands, but have since sunk slightly into the background
and allowed other bands to take centre stage in Preston’s exciting
new music scene.
The band returned today with a sharper look, front man Phil showing off
new bleach-blonde hair, and a much sharper, practised and improved sound.
Energetic
twist
The
bands’ sound was much heavier than usual, possibly unintentional
due to the lack of sound checks, and the band added a much needed energetic
twist to the afternoon, bringing the waning crowds back down to the front.
The BSI’s enthusiasm seemed to rub off on the audience as they put
on a show many, many times better than their drunken 12 Bar showing in
June.
The closing number
changed their style entirely, with an American Cowboy-esque musical interlude
before finishing with a cover of The
Violent Femme’s Blister In The Sun.
