Tracklisting:
1. Best In The Business
2. Trippin
3. Poisonous Emblem

The KBC deliver again with eleven minutes of pure punk-funk genius. These three tracks have been brilliantly produced and are a signal that the band are ready to make the jump from local treasures to national contenders.

The problem with seeing them live around Preston is that you cannot help but think, 'How can they possibly get that sound on CD?' Well, here it is, the only problem is that whichever companies recieve this CD, there is a good chance they shall in turn be thinking, 'How can they possibly reproduce that sound live.'

Although, in all honesty, this demo could not possibly give a better account of the Preston three-piece. The trademark echoing vocals are still present but have been dumbed down slightly, and the band's music is gradually forming into songs, with almost clear verses and choruses, making them instantly memorable yet still offering to escort the listener to an entirely different world.

Two-finger salute

Best In The Business could be a topical two-finger salute to the way the music industry and its selective recognition of new bands. 'Let me declare you the best in the business/ All going for you but distinct lack of notice.'

Trippin is built over a lazy bassline which is quickly interrupted by a high-pitched neurotic guitar riff, before breaking into a typical KBC swaggering anthem. Poisonous Emblem sounds rather claustrophobic, containing numerous drug references whilst giving nothing away, and utilising the echo effect with the trademark KBC 'Whoa'.

Attempting to describe the sound that eminates from the KBC's magical world is near impossible, so if you're doubting what you read, or think it is mere hype, then listen to the CD, then see them live, and then decide for yourself.
