Description: Intricate and bitter piano-pop five piece, taking in slow, melodic love songs as well as upbeat jazz-infested punk music . Superkings lyrics tend to come straight from a scarred heart or humorous mind, hinting at mainstream inlfuences from The Beatles and The Smiths. Background: Sat in a local pub in March of 2003 Dave ???? and Pete Moody realised that rather than sit and talk about girls and music something must be done - cue The Superkings. After struggling with misfit members and a sound that was hard to perfect The Superkings have only just managed to complete their lineup, whilst still building a good name playing renowned venues such as the Night and Day in Manchester and The Mill in Preston. A cello player was added to fill out the sound in summer of 2004, and The Superkings played their first full gig with the new line up on January 16 2005. The band recorded a five track CD called ' Good To Have You Home' in autumn 2003 and a further 8 tracks are now available on a new CD recorded recently. Current Status: Trying to find a balance between recording and gigging, constantly wanting to improve their sound. Now with a refreshed line up looking to settle down and prepare for the recording of a 20 track in the not too distant future.
