Members:
Joe
Gleave - Singer
Dan O'Grady - Lead Guitar
Joe Hollick - Guitar
Ged Gleave - Drums
Location
- Based
in Preston but originally grew up in the suburbs around Leyland, Bamber
Bridge and Whitley Woods.
Desciption
- Experimental and extremely loud blues-rock band.
Two alternating lead guitarists that manage to produce dirty, catchy,
Black Rebel Motorcycle-esque, bass riffs without need for a bassist. Often
compared to Led Zeppelin and other giants in the pomp-rock movement of
the late 60's early 70's. Sometimes guilty of indulging themselves in
their music onstage, turning snappy four minute pop-tunes into mammoth
six-minute guitar-fests.
Background: The band was formed around
two years ago when Ged Gleave replaced the drummer in his cousin Joe's
band for a three week stint, and never looked back since. All self-taught
musicians and Joe Hollick plays on his own, self-built guitar.
Sushi Pills have had noted support slots with The Complete Stone Roses
and The Kills (when they inadvertantly tore down the venue's lighting)
and The Inspiral Carpet's Clint Boon at the UCLan Student Union.
Current
Status: Have drafted in a temporary replacement for guitarist
Joe Hollick who is currently studying in London. Got a great reaction
after playing Club Infinity in London on 5 July, and are in the process
of rehearsing again and organising more gigs in the capital.
