The long-awaited second recording from Preston’s self-proclaimed ‘most hated band’, sees The Vinyls hit top form once again with four new tracks to tease recording and management companies up and down the country.

First EP ‘Where The Boys Have Been’ established Andrew Harrison’s keyboard as a lead instrument, this time round guitars are thrown to the fore, evident from the EP’s searing, thumping intro to the CD which quickly intensifies into the pop-punk extravaganza of opener Two Good People.

Walking bass-line

Title track Sunday Sun uses a light, chiming keyboard laid over a deep, walking bass-line, with Harrison’s voice sounding drawn and almost desperate as he sings:
“They don’t see you just inside of my head/ don’t need you in or out of my bed/ I’ll take you somewhere I belong.”

Highlight of the EP is undoubtedly third track Goldmine, in which The Vinyls Rock and Roll-Soul sound crashes head-on with Britpop, giving hints of Octopus’ Garden meet Blur, and Harrison’s voice, at times, sounds scarily like Thom Yorke’s immaculate whine on The Bends.

Copies of the EP are primarily for the attention of producers and record companies, but if in search of a copy, get in touch with the band online at www.thevinyls.com
