Peace Division - Take
Me Im Yours Dance music, broken beats, and drum and bass are all stooped heavily in drug culture, but that does not prevent a completely sober Listen Up from finding Soul of the North's latest offering one of the most addictive releases of the year so far. Mixed by Paul Adams, Soul Of The North sounds boasts a tight mix of lazy, chilled out beats bringing together some of the hottest dances tunes with flickering bright flashes of noise whilst always remaining essentially simple. The mixdown paces from ethereal, ambient stop-offs through to intense build-ups, but never remains in the same place for too long. The disc does not over-indulge itself and major drops are few and far between. The first arriving almost ten minutes in, coming up through an eerie glaze of gothic chorus and dropping out into a hazy bout of electronica. Whatever your musical taste or background this really is worth a listen, and you're stronger willed than me if you can press the stop button before the end. The next disc in the Soul Of The North series is mixed by Karl Yates and is released in July. For more info visit the Soul Of The North forum
