Preston’s
music scene proved its increasing popularity this week as around 200 people
turned up to support Saturday’s Live In The Park all day music extravaganza.
A host of bands turned up to
play the event, each given a 20 minute slot to demonstrate their musical
prowess. Among the acts were Psillobian, Failsafe, The Clones, Asylum
and The KBC, as well as a huge after show party at The Mill, showcasing
Star 27 and Uberdog and others.
The
day was billed as Avenham Parks’ ‘real music festival’
following Rock FM’s squalid pop offering the previous month. The
weather did the day no favours at all and it was hoped that a much bigger
crowd would be in attendance, however, those that were there enjoyed a
competent display from some of the regions top bands.
Postponed
The following day’s Jazz
In The Park was postponed due to bad weather but is due to be rescheduled
for early next month.
Following
Saturday’s performances, event promoter Russ Carlton explained:
“It’s getting more popular, we had a bigger stage rigging
and a more powerful set up than last year, we would have liked more people
to turn up, but it's been a good day, and if we push the promotion when
the students get back, the music scene should get really exciting.”
