Hip-hop bar, Base, located on Friargate, is to apply for a live music
licence, enabling it to showcase local live music from the region’s
fast increasing number of unsigned bands.
Owner of the Base
bar, Dan Yates, told Listen Up:
“We’re all into the whole live music thing here so hopefully
we’ll get to be part of it, especially now the Adelphi seems to
have stopped putting on bands.
“We’ve
already applied and The Public Entertainment Licence officials are due
here
on May 5 to carry out inspections, it shouldn’t be too long after
that before we can get going with it all.”
Inspection
Entertainment licensing
is undertaken by Tameside in adherence with the government. Their website,
www.tameside.gov.uk
states that:
“Once the inspection has been completed, reports are submitted to
the licensing section for their perusal. Whilst the inspection is being
carried out, you the applicant will have to publish a public notice in
the local press and at the premises concerned to advise member of the
public of the pending application.
"Once all the reports and the notices have been received and there
are no objections to the application then the licence is issued after
28 days from receipt of the application.”
