Organisers alter judging system for BOTB |

Promoter and event organiser Russ Carlton spoke to Listen Up to defend the judges decisions and clarify the ins and outs of the new scoring system: "As this years event rolled on we got to thinking about things and realised that some judges mark high, some mark low, so points doesn't always necessarily come up with the right winner. We realised that it might be fairer to give more weight to the judges majority decision and use points as a back up if there was no majority decision." Stronger majority The new system will employ 4 judges rather than three, in order to reflect a stronger majority, and judges will be prevented from speaking to one another during heats - It will be in affect for this weekend's semi-finals. Russ also explained the need to constantly refine the scoring methods in order to keep improving the competition: "we'll never
find a perfect system, because it doesn't exist, but we just keep tinkering
slightly to make it better and better each year and each round as we go
along." Written by Dan Jeoffroy |

Organisers of this years' Battle Of The Bands competition have changed
the scoring and judging procedure with immediate effect, following numerous
complaints about unfair marking.
