Sound Noir set to record 40 song concept album

Luke Shepherd - Sound NoirSound Noir have confirmed they are to record and unofficially release a mammoth album which will push the boundaries of musical story-telling.

Luke Shepherd, half of the elusive duo, spoke to Listen Up and revealed that recording will begin on Thursday and should be available in June. Luke explained:

“We’re not sure exactly the format it will take yet, we’ve got loads of ideas. There will be 40 songs on the album and it’ll be 80 minutes long. Hopefully it’ll be really diverse but still all fit together into one continuous piece of music.

Simplified

Originally the album was penned to tell a musical story of The Warrens, but after much deliberation the project was shelved and has now been simplified in order to ease the pressure of writing and recording:

“I had this great idea of using rabbits as a metaphor for criminals and terrorists and The Warrens would obviously symbolise the underground networks that we never see. We got in some artists and tried to produce the music to go with the story.

“However, there was a lot of shit music came out of these sessions, so the point of recording the album now is to work with all the music we’ve got left over and get it out there, so we can start afresh. We’ve got loads of ideas for which way to go with it, we’ll just wait see what happens when we start recording.”

Future

‘Starting afresh’ is clearly something that excites Sound Noir as there is a lot planned for the future of the band that are yet to do a live show. Shepherd continued:

“Well, we begin recording on Thursday and it should be ready for June. After that we need to get sorted and start playing live. [Dan Bamber, other half of the elusive duo] has written about nine new songs as well, so we’re hoping to get a proper album out by Christmas.”
