The Baker Street Bombshell

Baker Street Fil quits the bandFil Hamilton, lead singer in local Preston punk-pop quartet The Baker Street Irregulars, has surprinsingly quit the band just weeks after launching their long-awaited debut LP.

The news came late yesterday afternoon and was entirely unexpected around local circles. Posting on Prestone music forum Fil explained his decision to leave and what he intended to do in the future:

"I have become disillusioned with the musical direction of the band and wish to follow a different path than that laid out before me. I want to become a better guitarist and being the lead singer has prevented that.

"I'm tired of The Baker Street Irregulars being looked upon as a joke pop band and how it makes me die a little inside. I want to make music that I like and will dance to, and The Baker Street Irregulars don't make that kind of music. I want to express myself, not make a joke about myself. "

The future of the band is now uncertain but Fil has made it clear that he wishes the band well in continuing without him.

The Baker Street Irregulars album is reviewed in the Listen Up reviews section, and the album will be readily available in the near future.
