| Mitre celebrates first birthday |
||||||||
|
The Mitre was reopened on October 9th 2003 by Rob Clarke and Helen Warner with the intention of promoting the city’s young, unsigned music talent and providing inexperienced local musicians with the opportunity to strut their stuff, as well as showcasing bigger live acts, and even signed bands from around the region. Deadjim are the band who proudly claim to have played the Mitre’s first gig with their intriguing ska/punk/rock sound and have gone on to earn gigs all around the North-west including Kendal, Liverpool and Oldham. The Mitre intends to uphold its proud tradition of live music with a hectic schedule planned into the winter including new local band Brownring, the much-hyped Arc-Delta and the coveted Jackpot Golden Boys all appearing within the next month
