|
The magazine carried bogus information regarding The Mitre as a music venue, both prices and frequency of music events was incorrectly commented upon and available to thousands of students. Pluto have accepted their gaffe and apologised in person for the mistake and vowed against a repeat performance. Rob Clarke who co-runs
The Mitre Tavern with Helen Warner, saw the article as a threat to the
establishments' main source of business. Posting on Prestone.co.uk
,a local website he explains: The printing of the
magazine enticed a torrent of angry emails from local music followers
who see the pub as an important cog in the works of Preston’s rapidly
improving music scene. A reply from Pluto’s music editor, Dom Sanna,
read: “I've been round to the Mitre to apologise personally to Rob and Helen and they were extremely gracious about it. I did some flyering for them today and now that I have an actual team together, I will have people covering local events there and at various other venues in Preston. There'll be a retraction in the next issue also.” For the record, the Mitre provides live music on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and many gigs are free of charge.
